A charter ordinance exempting the City of Council Grove, Kansas from the election of a City Treasurer as provided in K.S.A. 14-201 and providing for the appointment of the City Treasurer for the City of Council Grove.

Be it ordained by the Governing Body of the City of Council Grove, Kansas:

Section 1. The City of Council Grove, Kansas, by the power vested in it by article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to make inapplicable to it and exempts itself from part of K.S.A. 14-201 as it relates to the election of a City Treasurer. K.S.A. 14-201 is applicable to cities of the second class but not uniformly to all cities.

Section 2. The Mayor shall appoint, by and with the consent of the City Council, a City Treasurer.

Section 3. The City Treasurer, when appointed with the consent of the City Council, shall hold the office for one year and until their successor is appointed and qualified.

Section 4. The City Council shall by ordinance specify the duties and compensation of the City Treasurer.
