A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF COUNCIL GROVE, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF K.S.A. 14-201, RELATING TO THE TERM OF OFFICE OF APPOINTED CITY OFFICERS AND PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT.

Section 1. That the City of Council Grove, Kansas, under authority of Article 12, Section 5, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas (City Home Rule) hereby elects to exempt itself from and make inapplicable to it that part of K.S.A. 14-201 which states as follows:

       “Any officers appointed and confirmed shall hold their offices for a term of one year and until their successors are appointed and qualified.”

Further, the city hereby elects to provide substitute and additional provisions as hereinafter set forth in this resolution.

Section 2. That K.S.A. 14-201 is applicable to said city but is not applicable uniformly to all cities throughout the state.

Section 3. That by way of substitute provisions for that part of K.S.A. 14-201 made inapplicable to the City of Council Grove by this ordinance, it is ordained that the term of office of the city officers appointed and confirmed pursuant to K.S.A. 14-201 shall be established by ordinary ordinance of the City of Council Grove.
